Cow (2003-2004)

[Check out what I got up to at Limelight and Bite too, as well as more recently as a freelancer]

Castlemaine XXXX > XXXX sponsored an England vs. Australia football match and we helped to drive awareness of the deal amongst footie fans and the football community at large with experiential activity and branded merchandise.

Disney > Mickey Mouse was having his 75th birthday and we worked with Disney to help him celebrate it in style in the UK with a ride on the London Eye, singing alongside a Children’s choir and lots of other exciting stuff. I’ve never seen so much broadcast media coverage in one go and I’ll certainly never forget his birthday (21st November).

Hoegaarden > I still drink Hoegaarden today and it’s a genuinely lovely beer that reminds me of my time at Cow and being at the helm of a relentless sampling and sponsorship programme that ensured Hoegaarden was firmly established as the beer of choice for the creative community in London.

Leffe > Continuing the beer theme, we worked with Leffe on a really specialised product sampling campaign and reviews programme, targeting food writers and other key influencers.

Staropramen > A different beast to Hoegaarden and Leffe, Staropramen led us to a sponsorship of the Sussex Arts Club in Brighton (sadly no longer there) and a series of other events and initiatives to help engage effectively with people that know to ask for a pint of ‘Star’.

Office for National Statistics > Donald has since left Cow in the UK and set up the hugely successful Cow Africa in his home country of South Africa. When he was over here he had the brilliant idea of hiring a real-life house and filling it with real-life props with real-life labels with real-life stats to showcase in an amazingly effective way the latest stats from the Office for National statistics telling us how much things are and what we’re spending our money on. I just helped tell people about it and TV coverage on all the main channels followed.

Yahoo! > One of Cow’s biggest clients at the time, Yahoo! was an amazing company to work with. Incredibly fast paced with new products coming out all the time, it was a great time to be helping drive share of voice through sustained media coverage. A highlight included helping set-up an internet cafe on the Everest base camp and chatting to someone who I later realised was one of the founders of the web.
